TRAVELING TIME
For certain size operations, traveling time between
repair locations may be a major factor in determining
the number of maintenance personnel required.
In a single site operation, investing in a walkie-talkie
system or two way radios may reduce substantially
the amount of time spent traveling because the nearest
personnel to the job can be contacted. Also by using
a two-way radio system, all the personnel on the
network may know what the others are doing and perhaps
communicate pertinent help.
For CMMS operations, there is no need to go back
to collect a printed work order from the CMMS desk
because each personnel can be supplied with blank
work order forms and work order number and details
can be retrieved from the CMMS and relayed to over
the radio.
For more distributed sites, CWorks have available
mobile add-ons that allows the dispatching of work
orders through hand phones, pagers, fax or email.
This may also reduce the number of personnel, software
and hardware required to run a CMMS in a distributed
manner as calls can come in by phone and work orders
dispatched to anywhere maintenance personnel are
located.
CWorks mobile solutions are being used at a number
of sites in Malaysia in a call center or service
bureau environments. Currently CWorks mobile solutions
are distributed only in Malaysia because of the
complexity in installation.
