PRIORITIZING WORK
Some users of CMMS tend to push work towards maintenance
personnel in a sequential manner. In other words,
first come first serve. The problem with this is
that not all work are created equal. Some are more
critical than others.
In CWorks CMMS work order screen, there is a field
called "work priority" and has a pick list that
defaults with normal, urgent, emergency, routine,
safety. This pick list can be added in the masters
module.
Keying the different priorities helps maintenance
personnel to plan their work by responding to the
important ones first and plan the unimportant work
to be done during non-peak time. This better planning
may result in reduced personnel costs and overtimes.
A pre-requisite for using this priority field is
to determine, document and communicate how each
different priority is to be responded.
